Sarracenia

Whilst it had not been my intention to include this in my CP collection, I found myself drawn to the Sarracenia (Sarraceniaceae) on one of my trips to Far East Flora. From certain angles, the Sarracenia has a cobra-like appearance. At the same time, its tubular form also makes for it appear rather elegant. But do not be deceived - the white areoles on its lid act as false windows, confusing preys and causing them to fall down the tube.

13 July 2009 - The tallest tubular leaf is a new growth.
